Saying thank you: every Swiss template collection
A thank-you for a gift may ramble. A thank-you at a graveside may not. We counted our own collections, and the gap is measurably wider than most guides admit. Every collection sits in one place here, together with the analysis showing how much room each occasion can carry.

The ConvivaPlus Thank-You Index
The ConvivaPlus Thank-You Index measures every collection for volume, situational breadth, register and text length, making visible how much room an occasion can carry.
No authority and no standard reference measures Swiss thank-you occasions by length and register. So we did it on our own corpus: every row below is computed from the actual template texts rather than estimated, and it recomputes as soon as a collection grows.
| Collection | Templates | Situations | Registers | Median length | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Invitation | 122 | 17 | 4 | 33 w. | 9–50 w. |
| Job rejection | 103 | 20 | 4 | 39 w. | 18–61 w. |
| Birthday | 103 | 18 | 4 | 29 w. | 9–58 w. |
| Gift | 105 | 18 | 4 | 39 w. | 12–66 w. |
| Wedding | 103 | 18 | 4 | 36 w. | 9–55 w. |
| Bereavement | 107 | 20 | 3 | 29 w. | 9–43 w. |
Method: words per template text, counted across every template in the collection. Median rather than mean, so a single long text cannot skew the row. Registers = the tones selectable in the picker.
The verdict of the analysis: Bereavement is the tightest collection in the whole corpus. Not one text there exceeds 43 words, and it offers only 3 registers instead of four, because a light one simply must not exist. Gift carries half as much again, at 66 words. Use the same text for both and you will be wrong in one of the two cases.
Computed from every template text in this collection. Not an estimate, not a figure borrowed from elsewhere.

The occasion sets the length, not good intentions
Other guides say «keep it short» and never say what short means. We counted our own 643 template texts instead of estimating. The result: Bereavement has a hard ceiling of 43 words and only three registers, Gift runs to 66 words and offers four. That is not taste, it is the measured gap between an occasion that can carry room and one that cannot. To be straight about it: the index measures our own corpus, not Swiss letter culture as a whole. It says how our templates are built, and they are built per occasion.
Freshness note: The figures recompute on every page view. If a collection grows, its row moves with it.
- ◆The bereavement set is the only one without a light register. Every other collection offers four tones; bereavement has three. That was not a decision made afterwards: for a condolence thank-you there is no «humorous» to fill.
- ◆The shortest text in the whole corpus is 9 words, and that in 4 collections at once. There is evidently a floor below which a thank-you stops landing as one, and it sits at the same place across every occasion.
- ◆Job rejection has the highest minimum. Its shortest text needs 18 words, 2 times that of the shortest collections. The reason is in the occasion: a thank-you after a rejection has to carry the sentence about keeping your file on record, and that does not compress into nine words.
- ◆111 distinct situations across 643 texts means roughly six variants per situation. That is the point where a collection stops being a list: for every situation there are enough variants that two people will not send the same text.
