Bellevue Christmas market, Zurich: the square stayed, the name did not
The biggest change in Zurich's 2026 Christmas season is not a date, it is a name. The «Wienachtsdorf» left the Bellevue after ten years; Sechseläutenplatz is now run as Bellevue Noël. Name changes are the most dangerous kind of change – because memory and search results both lag by a year.

The market on Bellevue has a new name in 2026: after ten years, Schöne Bescherung AG's «Wienachtsdorf» has left the square, which is now run as Bellevue Noël.
- Anyone still searching for «Wienachtsdorf Zürich» lands on the predecessor's farewell page – the dates there no longer apply.

🔎 What sets this market apart from every other one
For ten years Sechseläutenplatz was the «Wienachtsdorf». Not in 2026: the previous organiser has left and the square is run as Bellevue Noël. Same square, same location, different name – and that is exactly why this page exists. A date changes every year and everyone expects it. A name changes once in ten years, and nobody expects it.
In practice: search from memory and you search with the old name. That reliably leads to the predecessor's farewell page, which still shows dates – just not the 2026 ones. It is the most expensive kind of misinformation, because it does not look wrong: it looks like last year's correct page.
The second point is the ending. Bellevue Noël closes on 23 December. If your Zurich market visit traditionally falls on the 24th – for many families the actual evening – you have to switch to the station concourse; of the Zurich markets with a published run, only this one goes through Christmas Eve.

🎯 How to plan the visit without standing in an empty square
Sechseläutenplatz is the city's easiest meeting point – and the fondue chalet is why booking is not a luxury.
- 1Fondue chalet: book, groups includedThe organiser explicitly lists the fondue chalet as bookable, expressly for groups too. Turning up on a December Friday evening without a booking is the most reliable way to lose the evening.
- 2The old name leads to dead dates«Wienachtsdorf Zürich» is the name almost everyone still carries. It leads to the predecessor's farewell page. The authoritative source is bellevuenoel.ch – that is where we read the run.
- 3Closed on 24 DecemberThe market ends on 23 December. Plan for Christmas Eve and you plan into nothing here; you will need another Zurich market.
- 4The easiest meeting point in townSechseläutenplatz and the Bellevue are a transport hub – you never have to explain where exactly. For a group arriving from several directions that is worth more than a few extra stalls.
🗺️ Where this market sits in the season
Four Zurich markets appear in this overview and they start almost together – the bar above shows that the difference is decided not at the beginning but at the END. Miss that and you plan the last market evening in the wrong place.
Nationally: the densest day of the 2026 season is 3 December 2026, with 20 of the 23 confirmed markets open at once. The season runs from 18 November 2026 to 27 December 2026.

Polarzauber inside the main station: it is the only market in the overview standing entirely inside a hall – which is why its hours carry no weather caveat, unlike Geneva's.
Zurich HB Christmas market →On Werdmühleplatz. The main attraction there is a timetable: choirs take turns singing on the tree-shaped scaffold at fixed times every day.
Werdmühleplatz Christmas market →The Dörfli market in the Niederdorf – and the only Zurich market that occupies no square but runs as a chain of stalls up to the Grossmünster.
Niederdorf Christmas market →The ConvivaPlus verdict
As a meeting point the Bellevue is hard to beat: a central transport hub, a lakeside setting, and nobody needs directions. Arriving as a group from several directions, you get the least friction here – and with a booked fondue chalet, a fixed evening.
The caveat is the change itself: a square with a new organiser is an unknown, and for 2026 we read the run but no published daily hours. If reliability matters most, the main station is the better bet – every time is published there and the market runs through Christmas Eve.
Freshness note: After an operator change, details tend to keep moving. We read the run on 8 September 2026 at bellevuenoel.ch – check again on the day before you travel.

- ◆The name is the trap, not the date: «Wienachtsdorf» leads to the predecessor's farewell page – a page that does not look wrong, but looks like last year's right one.
- ◆The ending decides, not the start: Zurich's markets open almost together, but they do not end together: at the Bellevue it stops on 23 December, inside the station concourse only on the 24th.
- ◆Booking is not a luxury here: the organiser explicitly offers the fondue chalet with booking, groups included.
