Candle dipping Gossau: nine evenings, midweek included
In a small municipality a candle-dipping session is usually a weekend. Gossau turns it into nine days straight – and stays open until 8pm on every weekday in between. For the first week of November that is the densest evening coverage in the entire survey.

Each bar is a documented run. Dark = this session, pale = the nearest ones. Read a single date and you miss that the neighbouring village has already packed up when the wax here is only just warming.
🔎 What sets this candle-dipping session apart
The weekday evenings are the point. Most small offerings in the survey open in the afternoon and close at 5.30pm – anyone in work effectively has only the weekend. Gossau stays open until 8pm on all five weekdays, continuously across nine days. In the first week of November there is no second offering in Switzerland with this evening coverage.
The second point is the timing. Gossau sits right at the start of the season – by the time it packs up, most Zurich offerings have not begun. Anyone wanting to be early without driving as far as Winterthur has the chance here; anyone thinking of it in December is four weeks late.
And the third is an omission we do not fill: the Viva Kirche publishes no prices. So we list none – not even a «typical» one. For context: published wax prices in our survey range from CHF 3.– to CHF 5.50 per 100 grams; where Gossau falls within that range only the organiser can say.

🎯 How to plan the visit without arriving at a cold wax pot
Gossau is a village session with unusually long evenings. Three points before visiting.
- 1The weekday evening is a real option hereMonday to Friday 1.30pm to 8pm – at most comparable offerings it is over at 5.30pm. Come after work and you have more than two hours.
- 2The last day is three hours shorterThe closing Sunday only runs to 5pm instead of 8pm. Anyone holding it in reserve should set off earlier.
- 3Ask about prices in advanceNone are listed on the organiser's site. Anyone coming with several children who wants to budget should ask first – the proceeds go entirely to charitable projects according to the organiser.
🗺️ Where this session sits in the season
In the canton of Zurich the dataset records 24 sessions. Gossau is among the earliest – only Winterthur-Veltheim and the Kerzenwerk in Zurich's Binz open earlier still.
Anyone who misses the Gossau week will not find another chance in the Zurich Oberland until Wetzikon in December. Nationally the densest day of the season is 29 November 2026, with 17 sessions running at once – by then Gossau is long over.

To the ConvivaPlus-Kerzenzieh-Kalender →The ConvivaPlus verdict
For working people in the Zurich Oberland, Gossau is the best address of the first November week: five weekday evenings until 8pm, no booking, on a manageable scale. No other offering of this size stays open so late.
What is missing is the price and the time. Nine days pass quickly, and Gossau sits so early in the season that many never think of it. Anyone planning only in Advent has to fall back on Wetzikon or the city of Zurich.
Freshness note: The organiser publishes no prices; we enter none. Opening hours were read on 8 September 2026 directly from the Viva Kirche. The basis is the ConvivaPlus-Kerzenzieh-Kalender 2026: every entry was read individually at the organiser for the ConvivaPlus survey — this ConvivaPlus verdikt rests on nothing else.

- ◆Five weekday evenings until 8pm: most comparable village offerings close at 5.30pm – Gossau is the exception.
- ◆The closing Sunday is three hours shorter: 5pm instead of 8pm. Hold it in reserve and you lose an evening.
- ◆No prices, so no invented ones: the organiser publishes none – instead of a plausible figure we give the range across the whole survey.
