Dipping takes place in a yurt on the station square — and over more than 50 years the association has raised over two million francs for projects for people with disabilities, including CHF 700,000 for the new zeka centre in Baden-Dättwil.

Für mich ist die Jurte das Schönste am Badener Advent. Man steigt aus dem Zug, geht zwanzig Schritte und steht in diesem runden, warmen Ding, das nach Bienenwachs riecht. Kein Umweg, kein Parkplatz, kein nichts.
Wichtig für alle, die farbige Kerzen erwarten: In Baden gibt es nur Bienenwachs. Meine Tochter wollte eine blaue Kerze und war zuerst enttäuscht. Nach zehn Minuten hat sie es vergessen, aber sagen sollte man es vorher.
Genau deshalb führen wir die Wachsart als eigenes Merkmal. Baden und Luzern ziehen ausschliesslich mit Bienenwachs – in den meisten Gemeinschaftszentren gibt es beides, und farbiges Paraffin ist dort auch günstiger.
Was viele nicht wissen: Das ist kein Weihnachtsanlass, sondern ein Sozialwerk mit Kerzen. Der Verein hat über die Jahrzehnte einen siebenstelligen Betrag zusammengezogen. Wenn man das weiss, kauft man die zweite Kerze mit einem anderen Gefühl.
