Trail of 1,000 lights at the Blausee 2026/27: through the nature park to the Sommerau — on 34 nights, but not on Christmas Eve

✓ Checked at the source · as of 12 October 2026

In winter the Blausee turns its nature park into a lantern trail: from the shop past moss-covered boulders up to the Sommerau and down to the Bistro Wasserhaus. It is lit on 34 nights in three phases, and takes a break precisely on Christmas Eve.

Key takeaway
The trail of 1,000 lights is lit from 19 November 2026 to 10 January 2027, 4 to 8 pm: until 20 December Thursday to Sunday, from 25 December to 3 January daily, then Thursday to Sunday once more. In strong, gusty wind it stays dark.

🔦 Good to know from the organiser

What the organiser spells out: what happens if it rains and what to bring.

In bad weather
Bei böigem, stürmischem Wetter ist der Lichterweg nicht beleuchtet.
  • Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. Despite preparation there may be slippery patches; the Blausee recommends treaded soles. Dogs on a lead. Tickets in the Blausee online shop.
  • The Blausee's five llamas, which the trail description mentions, spend the winter in their winter quarters in Aeschi according to the Blausee (moved on 18 September 2026).

✨ What to expect

The trail starts at the Blausee shop and runs through the nature park, past boulders and gnarled trees, up to the Sommerau. It ends at the Bistro Wasserhaus, where mulled wine and raclette are waiting. If you want to stay on, you can book the fondue igloo by the lake.

The calendar is the real trick: until 20 December the trail is lit only Thursday to Sunday, then it is dark until Christmas — including the 24th. From 25 December to 3 January it burns every evening, then one last long weekend. That is 34 nights in all; on 19 days in between it stays dark.

How we check

Every date comes from the organiser's, the municipality's or the canton's own site — never from an aggregator, never copied over from last year. Next to each source is the date we last read it.
