🅿️ Heuried car park: tariff hour by hour, access, tram

The first 15 minutes are free, two hours cost CHF 2. From hour 4 the space costs more than a child's ticket, from hour 5 more than an adult ticket, and the 8th hour alone costs CHF 10, 10 times the first.

The underground car park tariff is not on the rink's page but in the City of Zurich's fee regulations (GebO SBA, official collection 421.160, annex 1). For a space at the Heuried sports centre:

4 hoursFr. 6
5 hoursFr. 9
6 hoursFr. 12
7 hoursFr. 18
8 hoursFr. 28
each further hour CHF 10

For an afternoon on the ice, the car is the cheap option; only a whole day gets expensive. The entrance is at Wasserschöpfi 71, 8055 Zurich.

Without a car: tram 9 (Triemli – Hirzenbach) and tram 14 (Triemli – Zürich HB) stop at «Zürich, Heuried», about 150 metres from the entrance. In summer this is the Heuried lido, at the same address.

💰 Admission and sports pass: worth it from the 14th visit

Single ticket CHF 8 for an adult. The winter sports pass (CHF 110) only pays off from the 14th visit, but it is valid at Heuried, Oerlikon and the Dolder (without the ice discos).

The Kombi6 saves only CHF 1.33 per visit. If you come two or three times a month, the sports pass is better; if you use two free days, single tickets often work out cheaper. A family of two adults and two children with four pairs of hire skates pays CHF 48.

⛸️ Skate hire at Heuried: hire, sharpening, helmet

Skate hire costs CHF 6 a pair (plus deposit). Sharpening costs CHF 15 and takes about a week, 2.5 times the hire price.

If your own blades are blunt and you want to skate today, hire: immediate and cheaper. Small children get a free helmet against a deposit, and the «Rutscherli», a skating aid for the youngest, costs CHF 3 plus deposit. At the Dolder, hire costs CHF 8.

🏒 Free hockey at Heuried: «Chneble» 3 evenings a week

3 fixed drop-in hockey slots a week, one of them on Sundays in the indoor hall. Oerlikon has 1.

«Chneble» is Zurich dialect for drop-in hockey, no club, no registration. Outside these slots, hockey is not allowed during public skating:

  • Tuesday · 6.15 pm–7.30 pm · whole outdoor rink
  • Friday · 8 pm–10 pm · whole outdoor rink
  • Sunday · 6 pm–7.45 pm · in the indoor hall

The Dolder publishes its slots in an occupancy plan rather than as fixed weekly times (checked 3 Nov). You can hire a hockey stick at Heuried.

🎉 Free ice skating at Heuried: 7 days this season

7 free days at Heuried, 6 at Oerlikon, 2 at the Dolder. 4 November 2026 is Heuried only.

  • Wed 4 Nov · Afterwork on Ice · 6 pm–10 pmHeuried only
  • Sun 8 Nov · Gratis aufs Glatteis · 10 am–7 pm
  • Wed 2 Dec · Afterwork on Ice · 6 pm–10 pm

  • Wed 3 Feb · Afterwork on Ice · 6 pm–10 pm
  • Sun 7 Feb · Gratis aufs Glatteis · 10 am–7 pm
  • Wed 3 Mar · Afterwork on Ice · 6 pm–10 pm

On Afterwork on Ice evenings, entry is free; fondue at the Vrenelisgärtli restaurant by reservation only. At «Gratis aufs Glatteis», entry and skate hire are free, and the Eislaufclub Heuried runs taster sessions for children at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent and child: Sunday morning on half the outdoor rink

On Sundays from 10 am to noon, half the outdoor rink is reserved for parents with children up to about 14. At Oerlikon it is a third.

With small children this is the best time: no puck, no fast skaters, room for the kids. From age 6, children pay CHF 4. Helmets and Rutscherli are at the hire desk, and the hall is open even when it rains.

🏛️ History: from 1964 to the hall heated by its own ice machines

Built in 1964, with a new ice hall since 30 September 2017. The waste heat from the ice machines now heats the sports centre, the neighbouring community centre and the hot water.

Architects Hans Litz and Fritz Schwarz built the centre in 1964, one of the city's first leisure facilities to combine swimming in summer and skating in winter. The city calls it its oldest sports and leisure facility. From 2015 to 2017 the ice hall was rebuilt, for around CHF 81.4 million together with the renovation of the lido (excluding the car park). According to the city, a single-circuit refrigeration plant with directly evaporating CO₂ was used here for ice production for the first time anywhere in the world, and its heat warms the whole site (City building office, press release 28.9.2017).

⚖️ Dolder or Oerlikon? Zurich's three rinks side by side

According to the ConvivaPlus comparison of the three rinks: same admission (CHF 8). On weekdays the Dolder is open until 10.30 pm, Oerlikon until 4 pm. A car park with a published tariff: Heuried and Oerlikon.

How the ConvivaPlus comparison works: entry = adult single ticket · weekdays = closing time that applies on at least three of five weekdays, otherwise «varies by day» · drop-in hockey = slots per week · parking = published tariff for 1 and 3 hours · free days = days of the 2026/27 season without entry fee. Each line checked with its operator (date in the last column), no judgement of the operators.

Kunsteisbahn Oerlikon (Oerlikon only, not Heuried): As of 3 November 2026 the city reports the outdoor rink closed until further notice (technical fault). On Wednesday 11 November the rink stays closed until about 5 pm (installation work).

The Dolder sits at the forest edge above the city, reached according to its operator by tram 2 or 3 to Römerhof and the Dolderbahn, and is privately run. On Wednesdays from 8 pm the whole ice is closed for training. All three rinks together: ice rinks in the canton of Zurich · all ice rinks.

🥌 Eisstock at Heuried: hire a lane, price, booking

An Eisstock lane costs per hour CHF 10 for Zurich city clubs, CHF 30 for other applicants from the city and CHF 100 for applicants from outside, admission and equipment included.

CategoryPrice (per lane and hour)
Zurich city clubsFr. 10
other applicants from the cityFr. 30
Applicants from outside and commercial eventsFr. 100

For Eisstock (Bavarian curling) in Zurich, Heuried is the address with a published tariff; at Oerlikon on request. A company event counts as commercial and pays the outside rate, 10 times what a Zurich city club pays for the same lane. Booking is by the «Eisstockschiessen Heuried» application to the sports office. Less than two weeks ahead: CHF 100 processing fee. Cancelling is free up to eight weeks ahead, costs CHF 100 up to two weeks ahead, then the full amount (ice surface conditions).

🏆 The ConvivaPlus verdict

The ConvivaPlus verdict

After work: Dolder

Our verdict: pick Heuried if you come with children, by car or with stick and puck. The hall is open even when it rains, the car park is inside the sports centre, and drop-in hockey has fixed evenings instead of a booking plan as at the Dolder. Pick the Dolder if you want to skate after work on weekdays (open until 10.30 pm). At Heuried that only works on a Wednesday.

When we last checked: Times, prices and free days checked with the city on 3 November 2026. It lists no holiday times for Heuried; the weekly plan applies until the city says otherwise.

💎 Golden nuggets
The non-obvious — researched, not copied
  • ◆Free helmet: small children get a helmet against a deposit, no hire fee.
  • ◆Watch from a seat: the indoor hall has a stand for 300 people, for parents who prefer to watch from the side.
  • ◆Eat after skating: the Vrenelisgärtli restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but open over Christmas, New Year and the sports holidays.

💡Did you know?

At Heuried the rink heats too: waste heat from the refrigeration plant heats the sports centre and the community centre next door, and makes the hot water.
