075 prefix: who holds each Swiss mobile block

Key takeaway
Swisscom has been giving out 075 numbers since October 2013. Of the 742 allocated 075 blocks, Swisscom holds 740 and 2 belong to Telecom Liechtenstein AG (OFCOM allocation, as of 6 November 2026). Because people can keep their number when they switch, the prefix shows who holds the block, not a number's current provider.
Jump to the Prefix Checker: who holds the block of a Swiss mobile number?

Not every 079 is a Swisscom block, and the largest holder of 077 is not Lycamobile. Three digits after the prefix decide which company a mobile number is allocated to. We analysed the whole allocation list of the Federal Office of Communications: 3,405 blocks, 17 companies, five prefixes. The ConvivaPlus Prefix Checker turns it into an answer for your number.

075 prefix: Swisscom since 2013, except two blocks

On 24 October 2013 Swisscom gave out the first 075 numbers, at first only for data plans. Today Swisscom holds 740 of the 742 allocated 075 blocks. Who holds the other two is shown on the block map further down.

A block is the three digits after the prefix, with 10,000 numbers behind it. 742 blocks make 7.42 million 075 numbers allocated to a company. New prepaid customers got 075 from 14 July 2015.

Prefix checker: who holds the block of your number?

Type 079 977 into the checker and it shows not Swisscom but relario AG. Not every 079 is a Swisscom block: OFCOM allocated 16 blocks of 079 to 4 other companies, all between 079 977 and 079 999.

The ConvivaPlus Prefix Checker knows all 3,405 allocated mobile blocks from 075 to 079. Enter a number or just its first six digits: the checker shows the holder of the block and the block map of the prefix. The number stays in your browser.

Ported number: why the block does not reveal the provider

A 079 number may run on Salt today, a 076 on Swisscom. Anyone who switches provider may keep their number.

That is why the checker shows who OFCOM allocated the block to, and never which provider a single number is with today. The public allocation list covers blocks, not individual numbers.

OFCOM has two roles for exactly this difference. Its number portability rules, based on Article 28 of the Telecommunications Act, call the company it allocated the number range to the "Number Range Holder Service Provider" and the company someone is connected to after switching the "Recipient Service Provider". The checker shows the number range holder.

What the block still tells you: whether a number comes from a mobile block that a company holds at all. If the checker says "not allocated", no company holds that block today, or a digit is wrong.

Block holder and provider
Block holder = the company OFCOM allocated the 10,000 numbers to. Provider = the company a number runs on today. After porting, these are two different companies.

079 used up? In 2013 the forecast was end of 2014

By the end of 2014, Swisscom wrote in October 2013, there would probably be no new SIM cards with 079. The allocation list shows the state as of 6 November 2026: 846 of the 1,000 possible 079 blocks are allocated, 154 to no company.

The forecast concerned the 079 number block OFCOM had allocated to Swisscom, which is why Swisscom applied for 075. Today Swisscom holds 830 of the allocated 079 blocks. Numbers no longer needed would be reissued after two years at the latest, the same 2013 press release said.

«It has been estimated that by the end of 2014 there will be no more new SIM cards with the 079 dialling code.»

Swisscom, press release of 24 October 2013

075 blocks: 258 not yet allocated

From 075 800 the map is almost empty: 198 of 200 blocks have no holder. The two that are allocated there, 075 900 and 075 901, do not belong to Swisscom but to Telecom Liechtenstein AG. In total 258 of the 1,000 blocks in 075 are not allocated to any company, 26 percent. And although Swisscom has only handed out 075 since 2013, it now has more allocated blocks than 076, 077 or 078.

Not allocated does not mean free: the allocation list does not say whether a block is reserved. The map shows each of the 1,000 cells as OFCOM listed it on 6 November 2026.

In 077 it is not Lycamobile that holds the most blocks, but Swisscom.

Swiss mobile prefixes: 34.05 million numbers allocated

Share out all allocated mobile numbers in Switzerland among its residents and everyone gets around 3.7, the baby in the pram included. Allocated does not mean in use: the list says which company has a block, not how many of its numbers run on a SIM card.

OFCOM has allocated 3,405 blocks in the five prefixes 075 to 079, which is 34.05 million numbers. Switzerland had 9,127,125 permanent residents in 2025.

And yet 1,595 of the 5,000 possible blocks are not allocated to any company, 32 percent. The fullest is 079, with 846 allocated blocks; the emptiest is 077, where 479 of 1,000 are not allocated.
