In this calendar a candle-dipping session almost always happens in a community centre, a parish house, a hall or a tent — in Appenzell the workshop is built in the garden of a women's convent that has stood on the same spot for over 400 years. This is not a backdrop you can book: the convent grants hospitality, and the pastoral team thanks it expressly every year.
