🥟 Pierogi Zurich

For a full restaurant serving Polish food you sit on the train for 71 minutes, all the way to Bellach SO: Moja Tawerna, “Polnische Spezialitäten”, the nearest we could document. For pierogi, 26 minutes on the S7 to Stäfa are enough: bistro Pieroschka, Seestrasse 39, “Pierogi, Dumplings, Momos, Suppen, Kuchen, Takeaway”.

The bistro is open Monday 11:30–24:00, Wednesday to Sunday 11:30–24:00. The connection to Bellach (IC5 + S20) was checked on 5 November 2026 and holds until the timetable change on 13 December 2026.

🛒 Polish shop Zurich

The shop with the Polish ingredients does not call itself Polish at all. The commercial register gives its purpose as the import of and trade in Eastern European specialities and running a grocery. It is called Lakomka, at Ueberlandstrasse 14 in Schwamendingen, and at 18 minutes from HB it is closer than the pierogi kitchen by the lake.

It is open Monday to Friday 08:00–20:00, Saturday 08:00–19:00, stop Waldgarten (Tram 7). The Sundays on which shops in the canton may also open are listed under Sunday shopping in Zurich.

Sorted by travel time from Zurich HB, not by quality. Opening hours from the places' own listings, checked on 4 November 2026; a call before you set off is worth it. The Pierogi Planner below shows whether a place is open.

Why so few?
We only count an address with at least three facts at one source. Three more names appear in directories, but their website is empty or there is only a rating page. Do you know if they are still open? Write to us at the bottom of the page.

🔍 How we searched

Filter OpenStreetMap for the whole of Switzerland by “Polish” cuisine and exactly four dots stay on the map, three of them in the canton of Zurich, and in the canton, not one of them is a restaurant. The method behind the ConvivaPlus Restaurant Check: on 4 November 2026 we searched OpenStreetMap, search.ch, local.ch and zuri.net, using the German words people type: “polnisch”, “polnisches restaurant”, “pierogi”. An address only counts with three facts at one source, ratings and stars never.

📊 Official statistics

Count Switzerland's nationalities from the top down and today you reach Poland at No. 11; in 2010 it was only No. 19. Since then the number of people with a Polish passport has more than quadrupled: from 11,682 to 49,846 at the end of 2025. More than one in five of these people lives in the canton of Zurich.

And the number is too low: 4,987 people have been naturalised since 2011 and now count as Swiss. What it does not show: who eats where. Where foreign residents come from is shown by the origin finder on Foreigners in Switzerland; the whole resident population, from the same statistics, is under Swiss population.
