Polish Mass Zurich 2026: Winterthur usually on 2 Sundays

⛪ Polish Mass Zurich

You can sleep in: Polish Sunday Mass in Zurich starts at 12:15, at midday, in the upper church of Herz Jesu in Wiedikon, Aemtlerstrasse 43, 8003 Zürich. That holds on 51 of 52 Sundays in 2026. On one it was in German, for the Day of Peoples (more at the Mass Finder). The Mission for the cantons of Zurich and Glarus also holds its monthly Masses there and looks after Winterthur from here.

🚆 Polish Mass Winterthur

Go to Winterthur on the first Sunday of the month and as a rule you will find no Polish Mass there. It is only on the second and third Sunday, at 17:00 in St. Josef, Nägelseestrasse 46, 8406 Winterthur. Over the year it is missing on 27 of 52 Sundays; in March, May and August, on three of five. The Mission announces exceptions, as on All Saints' Day 2026 at 17:00.

Otherwise there is Zurich: 20 minutes on the S11 to Zurich HB, until the timetable change on 13 December 2026.

🚪 Finding the lower church

The sign, in German, does not say “Unterkirche” (lower church) but “unter Kirche”. Look for the single word and you are looking for the wrong sign. The monthly Masses are not in the church you see from outside but underneath it.

🗓️ Next Polish Mass

On 25 October 2026, Polish Mass was in German, at 11:00 instead of 12:15: for the “Day of Peoples” the Mission celebrated together with the parish and two other missions in other languages. The Mission does not say whether the day comes round every year. That is why the Mass Finder shows, besides the rhythm, every exception it has announced. 🕯️ All Saints & All Souls

All Saints' Day 2027 falls on a Monday. 2026 showed how the Mission marks it: in Winterthur the cemetery came first and Mass second, in Zurich it was the other way round. In Winterthur the day started at 16:15 at Rosenberg cemetery, followed by Mass at 17:00. In Zurich, after the 12:15 Mass, people went to Sihlfeld cemetery to pray for the dead, meeting at 13:30 at the cemetery chapel. On All Souls' Day there was Mass at 19:00 in Zurich.

🕯️ First Friday, first Saturday

Come only on Sundays and you miss three fixed dates a month, all of them in the lower church of Herz Jesu. On the first Friday, confession and adoration from 18:30, Mass at 19:30. On the first Saturday, the rosary at 10:30, Mass at 11:00. On the second Friday, silent adoration until 22:00.

🙏 Confession in Polish

After the 12:15 Mass there is no need to leave straight away: confession in Polish follows, in the upper church, after every Polish Sunday Mass, as the Mission writes. On top come 12 first Fridays from 18:30, in the lower church. In all, Zurich offers 63 chances a year.

📞 Polish Mission Zurich

The Mission works for two cantons, Zurich and Glarus. That is the same area in which the vicar general in Zurich represents the Bishop of Chur: the diocesan region of Zurich-Glarus. In the canton of Zurich it celebrates in two places; the office is at Aemtlerstrasse 43a, 8003 Zürich, with its hours in the table. For urgent matters, such as visiting someone who is ill or a funeral, the Mission gives a separate number on its page.

Polish lessons start here at age 4. The Mission runs its own Szkoła Polska at Herz Jesu: religion, Polish and history, a pre-school group for children aged 4 to 6 and preparation for First Communion. Classes start every September.
