The association advertises its candle dipping as a fixture, not a single date: «Das jährlich vom Verein organisierte Kerzenziehen findet jeweils im November statt.» Accordingly the six days of 2026 were set as early as September — and Oberägeri is thus the only one of the three Zug entries in this survey with a confirmed date for 2026.

✨ Highlights of this session

What sets this candle-dipping session apart is not in its run dates.

The weekly rule in Oberägeri is unremarkable: Tuesday to Friday from 15:00 to 20:00, at the weekend from 10:00 to 18:00. Exactly one day breaks the pattern — Wednesday starts at 14:15. Forty-five minutes earlier, and only on that one day.

Anyone with children knows the reason: across much of German-speaking Switzerland, Wednesday afternoon is free of school. An association that opens a quarter of an hour after lunch is not thinking about the clock but about the children. That is the kind of detail every listing averages away — “Tue–Fri 15:00–20:00” looks tidier and throws away precisely the quietest three quarters of an hour.

And then the calendar: on 8 November 2026 candle dipping in Oberägeri is over. The densest day of the season is 28 November 2026 with 21 events open at once — here everything has long been packed up. Only 2 documented events in the whole survey start earlier. Think of candle dipping as an Advent activity and you miss Oberägeri by three weeks.

🎯 Practical tips for your visit

In Oberägeri Wednesday is the best day — and early November the only opportunity.

  1. 1
Wednesday starts at 14:15Every other weekday begins at 15:00. The 45 minutes on Wednesday are the school-free afternoon — and the quietest time of the week, before the others arrive at three.
  2. 2
At the weekend from 10:00 and only until 18:00Saturday and Sunday 10:00–18:00: earlier start, earlier close. If you are planning an evening, plan a weekday — there it runs until 20:00.
  3. 3
Early November, not in AdventThe event runs 3 Nov–8 Nov 2026 and is over afterwards. Search in December and you search in vain in Oberägeri; the densest day of the season (28 November 2026) is three weeks later.
  4. 4
The only Zug date that holdsOf the 3 Zug entries in this survey, only Oberägeri has a confirmed date for 2026. Menzingen and the Freiruum event in Zug are open — if you want to fix something in the canton, this is the only place you can.

The ConvivaPlus candle-dipping overview lists 54 events, of which 35 have a documented date; the season runs from 23 September 2026 to 3 January 2027. Oberägeri belongs to the early field: only 2 documented events start before it.

In the canton of Zug the overview lists 3 events, and the other two have no date for 2026: the Sprützehüsli in Menzingen and candle dipping at the Freiruum in Zug. If you want a fixed-date alternative in central Switzerland, you will find one in Stans and Sarnen.

The ConvivaPlus verdict

6 daysWednesday from 14:15Only Zug date

For families in the Ägeri valley this is the event with the best time window: Wednesday afternoon starts earlier here than anywhere else in the week, and in early November it is still quiet. That the date was already set in September makes it the only Zug candle-dipping event that can be planned at all in 2026.

If you want candle dipping in Advent, this is the wrong address: on 8 November 2026 it ends, three weeks before the densest day of the season. For a December date in central Switzerland, Sarnen is worth a look.

Freshness note: Run, all opening hours including the earlier Wednesday start, venue and organiser come from jufrii.ch, source read on 13 September 2026. ⛔ The explanation “school-free Wednesday afternoon” is our plausible reading and is NOT a statement by the organiser — it publishes only the time. The claim “only Zug entry with a confirmed date” is counted across the 3 Zug entries in this survey. The organiser publishes neither a price nor a pricing method; we therefore quote none.

💎 Golden nuggets
The non-obvious — researched, not copied
  • Forty-five minutes no listing shows: Oberägeri opens at 14:15 on Wednesdays instead of 15:00 — exactly in the school-free afternoon. Any overview writing “Tue–Fri 15:00–20:00” throws away precisely the quietest three quarters of an hour in the week. We therefore list it separately, even though it makes the line untidier.
  • An association that advertises a custom rather than a date: Jufrii Oberägeri presents its candle dipping as an annually recurring November event. That is exactly why the six days of 2026 were already fixed in September — and why it is the only one of the 3 Zug entries in this survey with a confirmed date. Advertise a fixture and you have to document it every year; announce a one-off date and you can stay silent.
