Methodology: ConvivaPlus Excursion Index & verdicts

We rate 4212 excursion destinations in Switzerland transparently. This page explains exactly how the ConvivaPlus Excursion Index (1–100) and the honest verdicts are produced — word for word as the code computes it.

🏆 The ConvivaPlus Excursion Index (1–100)

An absolute, profile-independent recommendation number per place — complementary to the profile-dependent suitability score. It is tier-anchored and deterministically (reproducibly, no randomness) fine-tuned within the band:

Tier bands:
  • 🏆 Top90100
  • 🟩 Strong7889
  • 🟦 Solid6577
  • 🟨 Situational5064
  • 🟥 Avoid3047

Fine-tuning within the band (quality fraction 0–1):

Index = band minimum + round( quality fraction × band width ). More substance, more tagged data and more evidence ⇒ higher within the band. Never arbitrary.

⚖️ How the tier verdicts are formed (risk-stratified)

Every verdict is OUR own editorial assessment — no aggregation of third-party star ratings. Public places get a clear judgement with honest strengths and weaknesses.

For named private businesses, critical points are phrased as opinion based on experience (“according to reports”), never as a statement of fact.

🔎 The “not yet verified” principle

Honesty first: a property that isn't tagged for a place NEVER counts as a match. It is openly flagged as «not yet reviewed» and only lowers confidence. We never sell ignorance as suitability. — Reviewed vs imported: some places are editorially REVIEWED by us (verdict, strengths/weaknesses and ConvivaPlus Index 1–100). The rest are IMPORTED from open data (Wikidata/OpenStreetMap) and listed as places, but «not yet reviewed» — deliberately carrying no score, tier or verdict until we rate them by hand. Reviewed places always come first.

📚 Sources & licenses

The base data is openly licensed; the verdict is our own creation:

🗓️ Currency & freshness

We deliberately store NO volatile data (opening hours, daily prices) — you get those via the provider's direct link, so nothing rots. Every verdict carries a date; the dataset keeps growing and is continuously curated.
